Kinéis has added a new service offering to its catalog, called SmartSat. This commercial offer provides access to our software library (Kinéis stack) to communicate simply and quickly with Kinéis satellites, using components already available on the Internet of Things (IoT) market, with unlimited connectivity for 3 months.

Kinéis satellite connectivity for the Internet of Things offers global coverage (continuous data collection anywhere in the world), low power consumption, low data rate (19-byte message) and affordable cost (less than €10 per month). This connectivity has the advantage of covering white zones not served by terrestrial communication

SmartSat, satellite IoT connectivity at your fingertips

This new Kinéis commercial offering is aimed primarily at manufacturers of connected objects who are familiar with the IoT market, and who can complement their commercial offering with Kinéis space connectivity. The Kinéis stack (software library) can be added to transmitters (hardware) to send messages directly to satellites, without having to change the design of existing products. What's more, these transmitters, often used to communicate via terrestrial networks (LoRa, Sigfox), will enable these manufacturers to offer hybrid connectivity.

With the integration of the Kinéis stack, end-users can quickly and easily access space-based connectivity for the Internet of Things, thanks to components purchased on the market.

Partnership with STMicroelectronics, world leader in semiconductors

First example of application: in September 2022, Kinéis and STMicroelectronics signed a partnership agreement to ensure the compatibility of the STM32WL chipset with worldwide satellite connectivity. By integrating the STM32WL, users benefit from hybrid connectivity (terrestrial and space) at very low cost. What's more, Kinéis offers unlimited connectivity for 3 months at no extra cost. To facilitate the development of transmitters based on STM32WL microcontrollers, Kinéis includes in its SmartSat offer the reference design of a connected terminal using this STM32WL chipset.
